Language Translation Systems

A basic language translation system is a fairly straight forward system. Normal components are: a sound proof booth for the translator, a language translator, a headset system for the translator to hear the speaker which is generally fed from the general sound system, a microphone and transmitter, and wireless headsets for each listener. One such system is required for each language that the speakers words are to be translated to. Most systems use a radio frequency transmitter, however there are single channel units which use LED panels to transmit to the receiver headsets. The disadvantage of the LED systems is that the are "line of sight" units where the listener must be able to see the LED panel and must keep the receiver exposed and unobstructed.

There are several applications for these systems beyond the obvious one for which they were intended. Clearly, they serve well if you have an international audience where the attendees may not all understand the various languages the presenters are delivering their presentations in. However These systems may also be used where several presentations are given in the same room simultaneously and a general sound system would be impractical. Another application is where additional commentary or instructions must be given to several segments of the general audience which differ depending on demographics, region , etc. These systems may also be used to fulfill the requirements for ADA hearing impaired.

These systems are generally rented as a "turn key" system where the equipment and translator are self contained and accompanied by a qualified technician licensed to operate the transmitter. Costs are generally based on the number of receivers required.
